Learning from Mistakes: Talking About Rules in English

When we learn English, we make mistakes — and that’s OK. I have made mistakes in exams and homework. Sometimes, I didn’t study well, and the “punishment” was getting bad results. But I learned to study more and take responsibility.

In English, we use expressions to give advice or warnings, like:

  • You shouldn’t forget your homework.

  • Be careful with your pronunciation.

  • Don’t repeat the same mistake.

  • You must study more to improve.

These phrases help us speak about ruleserrors, and consequences. It’s very useful in school, at work, or in daily life.

Learning from mistakes helps us grow. We must not be afraid of errors — we must use them to get better and communicate clearly in English.
