Learning from Mistakes: Talking About Rules in English

When we learn English, we make mistakes — and that’s OK. I have made mistakes in exams and homework. Sometimes, I didn’t study well, and the “punishment” was getting bad results. But I learned to study more and take responsibility.

In English, we use expressions to give advice or warnings, like:

  • You shouldn’t forget your homework.

  • Be careful with your pronunciation.

  • Don’t repeat the same mistake.

  • You must study more to improve.

These phrases help us speak about ruleserrors, and consequences. It’s very useful in school, at work, or in daily life.

Learning from mistakes helps us grow. We must not be afraid of errors — we must use them to get better and communicate clearly in English.

🧠Post 5: Critical Thinking and Media Literacy

Think Before You Believe: Using English to Understand the Media

In today’s world, we receive information from many places like social media, websites, and news apps. That is why critical thinking and media literacy are very important — especially when we are learning English.

Critical thinking means analyzing, questioning, and making decisions based on facts, not rumors. Media literacy is the ability to understand and evaluate the information we see in videos, songs, news, or social media — especially in English.

Sometimes I see news that looks false. When that happens, I always check the source. I compare websites, read more than one article, and make sure it’s official and real.

I use English to watch YouTube videos and listen to music, and that helps me improve my listening skills, my pronunciation, and understand international news better.

My advice is simple: verify before you share. Think critically. Use your English to understand the world.

✈️Post 4: My Vacation Plans

In the future, I would like to visit Italy, South Korea, and Japan. These countries are very interesting for me because of their history, culture, and food.

In all three places, I want to visit monumentsgo to museumstry the local food, and go shopping. It would be an amazing experience to learn about new cultures and see beautiful places.

I would travel with my mom and my pets, because they are very special to me. I don’t have a specific date yet, but I hope to go in a few years when I have enough money.

These countries are my dream destinations because they have so much to offer and I really admire their traditions.

🌆Post 3: Describing My Hometown: Medellín

Medellín is my hometown. It is known as the "eternal spring city" because of its perfect weather. It is surrounded by beautiful mountains and full of friendly and hardworking people.

Some of the most famous places in Medellín are Cerro NutibaraParque ArvíExplora ParkPlaza Botero (with the famous "fat sculptures"), La Comuna 13, and El Hueco for shopping. We also have an excellent public transport system, including the Metro and cable cars.

I would compare Medellín to cities like Seoul or Tokyo because it's modern, clean, full of energy and culture.

One of the most important events here is the Feria de las Flores (Flower Festival). It is a colorful celebration with parades, music, and beautiful flower arrangements carried on people's backs called silletas. It shows our culture and love for flowers and nature.

What I love the most about living in Medellín is the places, the people, the food, and the transport system. I definitely recommend it to any tourist who wants to discover a city full of history, color, and life.

🥘Post 2: Food and Culture in Colombia

In Medellín, food is a big part of our culture. My favorite Colombian dishes are bandeja paisa and tamal antioqueño. They are delicious and full of tradition.

Some typical foods in my region are bandeja paisa, mazamorra, tamal, arepa, and aguapanela. We enjoy these meals at home and with our families. I really like to prepare salads and desserts. Cooking is something I enjoy doing in my free time.

If I want to offer food to someone in English, I can say:
"Would you like to try something new and different?"

In English, we have countable and uncountable foods. For example:

  • Countable: tamales, arepas, desserts

  • Uncountable: mazamorra, rice, sugar, aguapanela

Food is a beautiful way to connect with others and show who we are.

📝Post 1: My English Learning Journey

I started learning English in high school. For me, English is the universal language, and I wanted to communicate with more people.

I have practiced English through classes, songs, and making videos. I enjoy writing and reading in English — it's easier for me. The most difficult part is pronunciation, but I try to improve every day.

In my career in agribusiness management, English helps me communicate with people in the field. It’s important for professional growth and global opportunities.
